SINGAPORE [10 March 2017] – President of The Republic of Palau, Tommy Remengesau Jr., brought along the First Lady, Debbie Remengesau and fellow delegation from the Republic of Palau upon President Tommy’s successful re-election for the fourth term as President, to visit the President of Singapore, Dr. Tony Tan and diplomats in Southeast Asia.
This visit was to discuss opportunities for greater collaborations and reaffirm strong bilateral relations.

BBC World News invited President Tommy for a face-to-face interview, with renown Producer, Presenter, Sharanjit Leyl bringing to light on how the Republic of Palau is battling with climate change.
President Tommy brought about topics such as rising sea level where water is sipping up to farmland affecting agricultural activities. He also emphasised on the coral bleaching situation, where corals are under stress due to global warming and rising water temperatures. And how these issues affect the overall tourism landscape in the Republic of Palau.
Being an avid nature lover, he stressed the importance of conservation and tourism, how crucial it is for these two attributes to go hand in hand. He spoke about tourism and sustainability which displayed magnanimity of his passion towards conservation.
It was an insightful interview which addressed relevant concerns, aired worldwide and viewed by millions on Monday, 13th March at 7am Singapore Time and 8 am Palau Time.
Upon his successful BBC interview, he delivered remarks on “Sharks & Humanity” on behalf of the Republic of Palau, presented by The Parkview Arts Action Awards recognising outstanding environmental leaders.

President Tommy and First Lady and fellow delegation from the Republic of Palau were cordially invited to a Welcome Banquet hosted by GT Group.
Dr. Paul Zhang, Diplomat of the Economic, Trade and Tourism of The Republic of Palau to Southeast Asia and China alongside with Ms. Gracemaple Kwok, Executive Chairperson of E-Commerce Association of Singapore(ECAS) and Emiliano Cyrus, GT Ambassador eminently welcomed and hosted a Welcome Banquet at Shangri-La Hotel for the President and First Lady of the Republic of Palau, Tommy and Debbie Remengesau and fellow delegation from the Republic of Palau.
This Welcome Banquet addressed upcoming developments such as GT Smart-City projects and Palau’s business growth. GT Ambassador, Emiliano presented the First Lady with a bouquet of fresh flowers to welcome her.
There was a showcase of GT Wonder Boy, a SMART companion to President Tommy and the First Lady on the key functionalities of how it can help Palau transform into a Smart-City, followed by a video presentation on the future of Palau that promotes eco-marine tourism in Palau which President Tommy was simply impressed by.
It was overall a bustling but purposeful visit to Singapore. President Tommy and the First Lady were impressed with the overall gracious experience received from GT Group when they visited the staff at the Representative Office of the Republic of Palau.
